Email Marketing for Dentists

A great way to keep in touch with your patients is through an email marketing campaign. It’s simple to allow people to sign up through your website or you can take the patient’s email address when they come in for an appointment.

Keep a few things in mind:

1. Don’t bombard people with emails. The end result will likely be they press the unsubscribe button instead of reading your email.

2. Send interesting material. If you are doing a newsletter or informational email, make sure there is something a patient (NOT a dentist) would find interesting to read. This may sound obvious but I occasionally get emails from my dentist about flossing or exciting new bonding materials for cavities. I’d rather have a root canal than read about stuff like that. Make it interesting.

3. Give the patient a reason to click on a link. Offer something, some kind of deal. Your third cleaning is free. If you go two years without a cavity, you get entered into a contest to win a trip to Vegas. Some kind of call to action. If you have boring information, the patient will likely delete the email.

There are many great sites that offer email marketing solutions. Here are a few to get your started. Most of these sites offer a free option but once you reach a certain number of contacts you have to pay:
